Who we are

“We/Us/Our” refers to the Council of the Borough of Kirklees (“the Council”) of the Town Hall, Ramsden Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire HD1 2TA and "You/Your" refers to the users of the Letshelpyou website (the "Site"), which has been developed and is managed by the Council working in partnership with Our “Local Authority Partners”. An up-to-date list of Our Local Authority Partners can be found here We provide the Site to private landlords, Hosts (that is someone living in the property who may or may not be the homeowner) and letting agents acting on behalf of private landlords to display properties they are marketing. The Site is also provided to Lodgers and prospective Lodgers searching for rented accommodation, and Lodgers and prospective Lodgers searching for a spare room. Letshelpyou respects Your privacy and is committed to protecting personal information collected from You through the Site. This privacy policy governs the way We collect and use information, and by using the services provided on the Site You agree to be bound by this policy.

Information we collect

When You use the Site and the services provided You will have the option to provide Us with personal information, such as name, contact details and email address so that We may keep You informed. We use this information only in response to Your requests and to provide the services including facilitating introductions with other Members.

Letshelpyou accepts property listings from letting agents as well as private landlords. If You are the owner of a property being displayed for rent on the Site and the listing of which You have not given Your permission, this is because the agent You have chosen to use for the letting of Your property has displayed the details of Your property on the Site on Your behalf and thereby placed the information about Your property fully in the public domain.

The Site may also include links to other websites and/or contact forms to other unrelated parties which may collect personal information. Our privacy policy does not extend to the use of these third party websites and We recommend that users refer directly to these parties regarding their privacy policies before supplying personal details to them.

Safety and security

Personal information is processed and stored in Our databases and We have taken reasonable steps to secure and protect the information under Our control, including establishing processes to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure of this information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. However, whilst We make every effort to ensure the security of Your information, We are unable to guarantee the protection of the information from misuse, accidental disclosure or unauthorised acts by others.
